It’s hard to believe, but fall is already upon us. We have been hard at work in the studio designing new work and looking ahead to 2016.  Please join us November 7th for our Fall Open House, to preview the new work and to chat about ongoing projects. In addition to the new collection, we will be curating a selection of jewelry and other handcrafted goods just in time for the holidays.

We are also excited to be heading to NY this weekend for Field & Supply hosted by Brad Ford Interior Design. In its second year, this modern makers fair has an amazing lineup of designers that we’re thrilled to be a part of.  We will be exhibiting with fellow North Carolina makers Haand, who will be displaying their beautiful slip cast porcelain work on our new dining table and credenza. If you’re in the area be sure stop by – the leaves are starting to turn in the Hudson Valley and it should be a fantastic time.

The Corbett house, our first full interior build is finally complete! Designed in collaboration with In Situ Architects and over a year and a half in the works, we applied our approach to furniture to all of the interior millwork as well as a number of freestanding furniture pieces. The space is scheduled to be photographed later this month – we’re looking forward to sharing some shots soon.

And finally, while we can’t say when Cocoa Cinnamon’s second location will be opening, we are looking forward to the new space as much as anyone. As with the first shop, it’s extraordinary to be a part of the amazing group of artists and designers who have had a hand in creating the space and we can't wait to hear what you think of their new tables.

Join us for an evening of modern architecture and design as we host North Carolina Modernist Houses’ Thirst for Architecture in our new Durham studio.

Chat about some of our recent projects and get a tour of the studio as we open our doors for the first time.

FRESH DESIGN.

As 2013 draws to a close, we wanted to share a few last events for the year.

Opening December 6th and 7th is Light Art Design’s annual show, ‘Metal’. In it’s third year, Metal promises to be one of the best holiday shows in the Triangle. If you can’t make it to the opening, don’t fret – the show runs until January 25th.

Debuting at Metal is Dalton, a new task chair for 2014. Available in ash with a white powder-coat, and walnut with a matte black powder-coat (among many custom colors), Dalton will be available to order directly online.

In addition to a preview of what’s new for 2014, we’ve started a new ‘Trade Tools’ series of objects. The first pieces include a bronze roofing hatchet, and bronze ball peen hammer with a hand-carved walnut handle, both cast at the Liberty Arts foundry in downtown Durham. These objects are on exhibit in ‘Metal’ as well.

Next week, our friends over at Area Modern in Durham are throwing a party celebrating their one year anniversary. In addition to plenty of bubbly, be sure you swing by to enter a drawing for a Not Your Mothers Jewelry Box. While you’re there, ask them what they’re doing to help bring the furniture industry back to North Carolina.
